Biyun si (The Cloud Temple)
Biyun si, aka The Cloud Temple, is located in the
Fragrant hills. It is a temple from the 1400:th century,
originally a nun monastary, influenced by India. In the
Ming dynasty influential eunuchs were buried here.
Quite interesting how
they use a tire to protect the tree when supporting
it.
This baby lion is very
interesting. Unlike all the others, it does not lie
on its back.
The trees are actually
rooted in the wall.
Probably a guard against
demons.

Guardians.
9 guardians on this side
and 18 in total.
Mmm... Gold.
Such cool roofs.
A clear indication of
the indian influences.
Gods sitting on
different animals/beasts.
This was an amazing
building. It held 500 gilded tree sculptures of
Buddha's disciples. They are all individually
crafted.
Here is a better example
of how they have been individually crafted.
It was really a
beautiful temple. It more feels like a park with
building than the other way around.
More of those trees
rooted in the wall.
Johanna studying
something. Who knows what.
A view from the side to
get a better view of how the trees seem to grow out
of the wall.
The trees were hollow
close to the root.
The top of the
temple.
You see dragins and
lions of all forms and shapes in China.
Built from one piece of
marble stone.
At the top of the
temple.
The view could have been
absolutely amazing if it had not been for the fog.
The view is still beautiful though.
People carved in bamboo
everywhere. Although bamboo looks fragile, they live
for years to come.
